The nine questions

• Will it be good quality? Samples in your hands, a signed golden sample, and an inspection before the balance is paid.
• Will it pass compliance? WaterMark, WELS, slip ratings, RCM, safety glass and the import bans, checked on every item before it reaches a shortlist.
• Who fixes it if it fails? You buy from the factory, so the warranty is in the factory contract. Elje Assured is what stands behind it.
• How long does it take? About 6 to 10 weeks door to door for stock lines and 12 to 16 weeks for custom joinery.
• My builder won't install it. Usually because nobody showed them the evidence. We do, before you order.
• Why not just go direct myself? You can. This is what the first job usually costs people who do.
• Is it insured on the way? It should be, on all-risks terms for the full landed value, and we make sure it is.
• Can I put it in my construction loan? Sometimes, if it is inside the builder's contract. Here is how lenders treat it.
• Will it hurt resale value? Valuers price the finish and the paperwork, not the country of origin.

How we answer

Every answer links to the regulator, lender or standard it rests on. Where something is our view rather than a published rule, we say so. None of it is legal or financial advice: it is what we hold ourselves to and what every Project Plan checks.

We would rather lose a job than win one on a fudge. If buying local is the better call for a line, the estimate says so.
