Buying a laundry from China
A laundry is a small kitchen with a tub. Cabinets, benchtop, tub and tap, built around the washer and dryer you already own or have chosen.
What to spec
- Washer and dryer models, with their dimensions and clearances, before the joinery is drawn.
- Tub: inset stainless or integrated stone, and the tap.
- Moisture-resistant board throughout.
- Hanging rail, broom cupboard, linen storage.
What it costs landed
On the house we fitted out, the main laundry cabinets were $3,677 at the factory gate in oak veneer, and the granny flat laundry $822.
Elje estimate, October 2026. Not yet from a delivered job; replaced with real landed numbers as jobs land.
| Item | Factory gate | Landed estimate |
|---|---|---|
| Main laundry cabinets, oak veneer | $3,677 (real quote) | $4,800 to $5,500 |
| Granny flat laundry | $822 (real quote) | $1,100 to $1,250 |
What to check
- WaterMark on the tub, waste and tap where the schedule lists them, and WELS on the tap.
- Moisture-resistant, E0 or E1 board.
- Stone benchtop: no engineered stone.
Mistakes we have seen
- Drawing the laundry before the appliances are chosen.
- No space for the dryer vent or a stacking kit.
Questions
Should the laundry come with the kitchen?
Yes. Same factory, same board, same container.
